Morality, aggression, and social activism in a transmedia sports controversy

This article examines how the interconnections between morality, aggression, and social activism are discursively articulated in two data sets: a face-to-face sport controversy corpus of evaluative online comments response to reports said controversy. The study adopted combined transmedia, critical, intersectional perspective that revealed divergent interpretations as an aggression threatened moral or case defense moral. Thus, competing frameworks were found lie behind division suggested need for awareness critical views on complex unstable distinctions causing taking offence roles transgressor/offender victim/offended.
